Tuesday Tip Jar – Recycling Bows, Boxes, and Gift Bags

Reusing items to wrap gifts is an easy way to recycle. Whenever anyone in my family receives a gift with a bow, we keep the bow and I put it in my bow bag. We usually keep boxes, either to wrap gifts in at a later time, or to store something in. Gift bags are another item that can easily be reused, as long as they are in good condition.

I would assume that some people may reuse wrapping paper, but that is not something we try to salvage, especially when our 4 year old is opening the present!

I even like to keep the tissue paper – assuming it’s not torn to shreds. A little tear hear and there isn’t a big deal if it’s just going to be stuffed back down in a gift bag later. Most of the time I tear the NEW stuff as I’m trying to get it around the item in the bag anyway!

I reuse wrapping paper with the help of my shredder. Once the paper has been shredded it makes pretty ‘fluff’ to use in gift bags. I also cut cards to use as gift bag tags. These two tips have saved me a lot of money over the years and don’t take much time either!
