Second Hand Stores Can Still Sell Used Children’s Clothing

I was pleasantly surprised to see this information posted on Once Upon a Child:

We received great news from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), clarifying the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act that goes into effect on February 10, 2009. Resale shops are ok to sell children’s merchandise. Click here for more information.

Basically, those who sell used children’s items will not need to have their items tested, but they still are not allowed to sell items lead or phthalates. I am not sure how these businesses/people will know if they are selling things against the law though.

It is still unclear how this will affect independent artists and small craft businesses. If I hear/read about more updates to this law, I will post that information.
