Homemade Granola Bars

A few months ago I found a great new recipe – Homemade Breakfast Bars. They are granola bars, something I have tried many times to make, but never was very impressed with the outcome. And they normally had less than healthy ingredients too.

I make these bars primarily for breakfast, but they also make a great snack. For a few weeks, I made them each week, but since I have been making baked oatmeal, I don’t think I need that much oatmeal at one meal.

When I saw that nuts were in this recipe, I thought I would probably just skip them, since I don’t like nuts in food. (Peanuts by themselves are okay, but that’s all.) However, since all of the non-liquid ingredients are ground in the food processor, I did add the nuts and could not tell. My only change to this recipe is that I add ground flax seed.
