Booking Through Thursday – Movie Potential

What book do you think should be made into a movie? And do you have any suggestions for the producers?
Or, What book do you think should NEVER be made into a movie?

I loved A Voice in the Wind and An Echo in the Darkness (both by Francine Rivers) and think they could be excellent movies, if they have a big budget and stick closely to the book’s story line. I really felt like I could picture the scenes well, with help from seeing the movie Gladiator. Rilla of Ingleside (the 8th book in the Anne of Green Gables series by LM Montgomery) is another book that would make a fabulous movie, again, if they stuck to the book’s story line and had Megan Follows as Anne.

There are quite a few books that have been made into movies that I really enjoy – The Lord of the Rings, Anne of Green Gables, The Bourne Identity to name a few. The latter was based more on the concept of the book, not really the story line in the book. I loved the book and the movie, but they are very, very different. For the most part, when a book is made into a movie, I am sad when the story line in the movie is changed significantly from the book. Many books are wonderful, and they don’t need to be changed for a movie.

As far as books that should not be turned into movies, there are some books that I read that I never want to see a movie version, because it would change the way saw the book illustrated in my head. A Wrinkle in Time (by Madeleine L’Engle) is a book that I never want to see a movie version. I know it was made into a movie several years ago, but it was a TV film and did not appear to have much of a budget, seeing it would probably be depressing, since I assume it would come across pretty cheesy. I hate when good books are turned into low budget films. I think can sometimes give the book a bad name.
