The American Patriot’s Almanac: Daily Readings on America by William J. Bennett and John T.E. Cribb was published by Thomas Nelson Publishers last year. If you are looking for a book to help you learn about a variety of events and people from our country’s history, this is it! Since this is a book of daily readings, you learn about a different person or event each day, simply by reading one page. Each day also has a short list of other events that occurred on that day in history.

Also included in the book are complete versions of The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution of the United States, The Bill of Rights, The Gettysburg Address, and The Pledge of Allegiance, to name a few.

Reading this book gave me insight on what many people did to help establish our great country. So many gave so much, to live in a free country. It is good to reflect on how our country came to be and to learn more about the people who played vital roles in our nation’s history.
