Sixteen Brides Book Review

Sixteen women from various walks of life all have one thing in common, they want start new lives and believe that their only option is to join the Ladies Emigration Society, move to Nebraska and claim land in their own names. Unfortunately, when they arrive in Plum Grove, Nebraska, circumstances are not quite what they had expected and they discover they were mislead.

Some of the women decide to continue on to the original destination of Cayote and others stay in Plum Grove, in hopes of actually claiming their own land. Sixteen Brides is a historical fiction novel is set in the late 1800s and is written by Stephanie Grace Whitson and published by Bethany House Publishers.

The story follows the courageous ladies who choose to settle in Plum Grove. One of the ladies hatches a plan that includes six of them all working together. It is something that had been tried before, but failed. Can ladies who only just met do the impossible?

I really enjoyed this story. It was so easy to picture the landscape as well as the many situations these ladies went through. The characters were unique and entertaining. I would love to read additional books about these women, to see what happens in their lives after this book.
